South Lake Union Streetcar Starts Operations Wednesday

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Streetcar in the South Lake Union area is scheduled to make its first run Wednesday.At 11:30 a.m., city and state officials will commemorate the official start of streetcar operations at the Westlake Hub, located at Westlake Avenue and Olive Way.At about 12:12 p.m. the streetcar will make its first run, with some stations offering special events and giveaways throughout the first day of service.Rides throughout Dec. are free and then will cost $1.50 after that.The streetcar stops every 15 minutes with 11 stops along the 1.3-mile route.
