RENTON, Wash. -- A jogger was killed Saturday afternoon after being struck by a car on Duvall Avenue northeast.

The jogger, a 37-year-old man, was running southbound on the shoulder of northbound traffic at about 12: 42 p.m. when a 34-year-old man driving southbound drifted over four lanes of traffic striking the jogger.

After hitting the jogger, the car, a 2002 Saturn, continued down a culvert and up an embankment into a fence where it came to rest.

The jogger was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he died at 7 p.m. from injuries he sustained during the crash.

The driver was transported to Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to detectives, the cause of the accident is under investigation.
