Downtown Bus Tunnel Open Again

Posted: 3:50 pm PST December 17, 2007Updated: 5:30 am PST December 18, 2007

The downtown Seattle bus tunnel -- closed Monday because a computer that controls tunnel operations failed -- is open for service Tuesday morning.

Bus routes using the tunnel operated on surface streets downtown on Monday afternoon after the tunnel was closed.

Metro's Web site says the tunnel reopened for regular service Tuesday morning at 5 a.m.

A computer system that was installed during the tunnel's recent retrofit controls ventilation, lighting, signals and other operations.
