BURIEN, Wash. -- A King County sheriff's spokeswoman said a 14-year-old boy has been rescued after falling through thin ice on a small lake in the Burien area of south King County. Sheriff's supervisor Kathryn Pompeo says the boy was out of the water when deputies and firefighters arrived after receiving a 911 call Wednesday afternoon. Pompeo said the boy, John Tuazon, was taken to Highline Community Hospital in Burien. He had returned home Thursday.Tuazon was retrieving a Frisbee. Two of the teen's friends and a bystander were able to pull him to safety. Several days of low temperatures dipping into the teens and 20s in Western Washington have created ice on a number of small lakes but authorities caution the ice is too thin to support a person's weight. Snohomish County Fire District No. 1 Officer Leslie Hynes was inspecting Serene Lake near Everett on Wednesday and noting the lightly frozen lake poses a big temptation for kids.
