Dogs Possibly Poisoned In West Seattle Parks

The animal rescue group Pasado’s Safe Haven said a dog nearly died after being poisoned last week in Westcrest Park in West Seattle.

“He had two blood transfusions and a plasma transfusion. They started treating him with vitamin K injections, which is the antidote for rat poison,” said Cammie Owen, the dog’s owner.

The poisoned dog, known as Mowhawk, is doing OK after a week in emergency care.

Volunteers posted warnings for other pet owners in an attempt to stop any more animals from being hurt.

A spokesman for Seattle Parks confirmed scattered reports of possible dog poisonings at Fauntleroy and Westcrest parks and has sent crews out in both areas to search for rat poison.

While the Parks Department said they haven’t found any clues, they are hoping that the warning signs give dog owners proper warning and said they are considering posting their own signs next week.

Pasado's is offering a $5,000 reward for any information regarding the possible poisonings.

The group said the crime carries a punishment of five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
