Man Jailed In U-District Robbery Attempt

SEATTLE -- A Seattle man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a robbery attempt in Seattle’s University District.Police said a man exited a bus near the 4500 block of 19th Avenue Northeast when two men approached him, demanded money and threatened him with violence. He refused and ran to call police on his cell phone.Authorities said the same two men then heckled women as they walked by. One of the women followed the men and called police, who were able to find and arrest one of the men after he was identified by the woman.
SLIDESHOW: Recent Attacks On, Near UW CampusThe man will likely be booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a stolen cell phone from Florida, officers said.At least nine people were hurt in attacks in the U-District neighborhood over the weekend, but police said they have no information linking Tuesday’s arrest to that recent violence.
