Seattle Woman Found Bleeding In Street

Posted: 8:57 am PST February 18, 2008Updated: 9:27 am PST February 19, 2008

Detectives are trying to discover how a woman ended up unconscious on Beacon Avenue South, bleeding from a head injury Sunday, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Police said they first thought the woman was a victim of a hit-and-run, but after they began investigating, they said the woman was attacked.

Officers spoke to the victim in Harborview Medical Center’s emergency room. She told police that she saw a car come skidding toward her and then she was attacked immediately after she exited the bus.

Many police officers responded to the scene in Seattle, searching the block for clues.

Blood stains and skid marks were still visible on the gravel where police found the woman.

Neighbors said they didn’t see anything around 6:40 p.m. when the incident was believed to have occurred, but some reported hearing the sound of screeching brakes. Callers to 911 reported a hit-and-run, but according to the police report, doctors said the woman’s injuries were not consistent with that of a hit-and-run victim.

Witnesses have given differing descriptions of a car leaving the scene.

One witness saw a dark blue and black four-door Toyota sedan. The victim said the car was an older-model white Japanese-made car.

Authorities ask that anyone with information about the woman’s injuries call police.
