Community Center Opening Early In Wake Of Chehalis Fire

CHEHALIS, Wash. -- A new community service center is speeding up its grand opening so it can help Lewis County flood victims in light of the fire Tuesday at the Eagles Club, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.The Eagles Club in Chehalis served as a storage and distribution center for flood victims and housed such items as furniture and appliances.The flood relief effort suffered a setback when fire destroyed the building and everything in it.The new center, called Help 4 Hard Times Youth and Family Services Center, will maintain assistance to those in need in the aftermath of the fire."The destruction of the Eagles' Club building is a serious blow to the flood relief effort," said Anna Brown, Executive Director of Help 4 Hard Times. "Help 4 Hard Times is committed to the residents of Lewis County and will to step in to fill the void left by the fire."The grand opening of the Help 4 Hard Times Youth and Family Services Center will occur on April 7.The center, located at 249 Northwest Chehalis Avenue in Chehalis, will provide furniture, appliances, clothing, and some building materials to flood victims.
