SEATTLE -- A Beacon Hill man thought he was buying a TV from Craigslist, but instead found himself in a violent trap. Authorities say he’s not the only victim. The victim, who asked that his identity not be revealed, said he contacted a man who put an ad for a TV on Craigslist. He’d been saving money for six months to get the widescreen TV he said he always wanted. The seller and the victim agreed to meet at a home on 3900 block of 15th Avenue South, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News. When they met, the victim said the man lured him into a dark hallway, where a gang of thugs was waiting.“They threw me to the floor and punched me with their fists and kicked me,” said the victim. The man said he was thrown to the ground, hit in the face and kicked in the ribs. He said he thought he might get stabbed, but the men ran away. They took his $2,500 that he brought to buy the TV.“They just tell me don't say anything and they punched me,” said the victim. The Seattle police told the victim that others had fallen to the same violent scam. Police say the first time it happened several blocks down 15th Avenue, and then again at the very same spot where the most recent victim was attacked.“I'm really afraid, I'm lucky to come back,” said the victim. This incident happened in January, but the victims thinks the men will continue since they’ve already done this at least three times and haven’t gotten caught, according to police.
