HOV Lane Violator Crashes After Police Chase

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Troopers said a chase that began when they tried to pull over a lone driver using the High Occupancy Vehicle lane on Interstate 405 ended in a crash during the busy commute period Monday.

RAW VIDEO: Violent End To High-Speed Chase The 39-year-old woman driving a Chrysler Sebring reached speeds of 80 to 90 mph and was weaving through heavy traffic during the chase before crashing into a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of I-405 northbound.The chase started just before 8 a.m. and ended a few minutes later just north of Interstate 90.Video from Chopper 7 showed the two crashed cars as medics transported the driver who police had been pursuing to the hospital. She did not suffer serious injuries.A Department of Transportation camera at Southeast 20th Street showed the crash scene on the shoulder and smoke pouring from the woman’s car. The right hand lane was blocked.Traffic was delayed on I-405 and I-90.Police searched the woman’s car and said they found possible evidence that could help in the investigation.She is expected to be booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and for outstanding warrants.
