SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle police arrested a man Wednesday who they say pursued a 14-year-old girl over a telephone chat line and then had sexual intercourse with her, according to the Boulder Police Department.

The victim, from Colorado Springs, met the suspect after initiating phone conversations using a chat service called Live Links, which is designed for adult singles, according to Boulder authorities.

The man soon made plans to meet the victim in person, and after learning this, the girl's mother became alarmed, reported Boulder police.

She went to the meeting with her daughter and confronted the suspect, telling him that her daughter was too young to date him, said Detective Colleen Wilcox.

He responded by telling her to instruct her daughter to stop answering the phone, according to Boulder police.

On at least two occasions, the man traveled to the victim’s house in Colorado Springs to get her to spend the night with him near his home in Boulder, Colorado, reported Boulder authorities.

The victim’s mother believed she was attending church functions in Denver with a friend.

Police believe the assaults to have occurred during these visits.
