Kent police said a woman was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Monday as she was crossing the tracks.

A memorial service will be held Friday for a teenage girl killed when she was hit by a train.

Kent police said 17-year-old Angela Rodriguez was struck by an Amtrak train Monday as she was crossing the tracks.

Witnesses told police that Rodriguez was talking on a cell phone as she walked across the tracks.

Police said the incident occurred about 200 yards north of James Street where there is no crossing control.

Authorities said the train sounded its horn and drivers honked their horns at her, but she apparently didn't hear them.

Paul Petersen of Kent Police said witnesses called 911 at about 11:44 a.m.

The memorial service will be held at Centro Familia Cristiano Church in White Center.
