A Yellow Cab taxi driver was shot and robbed in Puyallup overnight.

Puyallup police told KIRO-TV that they received a 911 call from the taxi driver just after 1 a.m. The 36-year-old Seattle resident told the dispatcher that he had been shot and robbed.

Police went to the 100 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest and found the man suffering from gunshot wounds.

An officer then located a 31-year-old Puyallup man who matched the suspect description hiding about a quarter of a mile from the scene. A firearm was found on the man.

After being detained and interviewed by detectives, the man was booked on suspicion of robbery and assault.

The taxi driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition is unknown at this time.

Police believe that the taxi driver picked up the suspect at the Emerald Queen Casino and drove to Puyallup before being robbed and shot.
