Man Rides Bicycle In I-5 Lanes

SEATTLE -- A man riding his bicycle on Interstate 5 in north Seattle was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after police detained him Thursday.Callers reported the man riding his bike in the righthand lane of traffic from about 175th Street to about 130th Street, where drivers pulled over to stop him.Among those who stopped him was an off-duty Seattle police officer who held the man to the ground until a trooper arrived.Troopers said the man complained that metal plates were pushing down on his head and said that he needed to ride to Louisiana to help his brother, who was in trouble.He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for the evaluation.The incident did not cause any accidents and no one was hurt.
