Police arrested two men who were in a car that crashed at a road work site along Interstate 90 on Mercer Island early Friday morning.

Witnesses told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the car was going about 100 mph when the driver lost control and the vehicle hit barriers alongside the freeway, bouncing off them until it came to a stop.

Both men in the car jumped out and tried to flee, but a worker tackled one of them.

"He ended up squirming away from me, ran up the street. I ended up tackling him again. I ended holding him until the State Patrol got here," said Joe Thompson, a worker.

Officers were able to catch the second man a few blocks from the crash with the help of a police dog.

Both men in the car are believed to have been drunk.
