Runaway Crane Leaves Path Of Destruction

TACOMA, Wash. -- A truck carrying a crane lost its brakes and went downhill in Tacoma, crashing into cars and knocking down a light pole Friday afternoon.

SLIDESHOW: Runaway Crane Hits Cars, Pole"It's a miracle not a person was hurt," said Eric Earhart, a witness.Earhart told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the truck "came flying down the hill" with no one inside, crossed traffic, took out the light standard and ended up on a Jersey barrier at 15th Street and Pacific Avenue.He said the driver lost control near the convention center, where he jumped out."And it just came down the hill by itself," he said.It ended up on the exit ramp from I-705 to 15th Street.
