SEATTLE -- A car went off the overpass at Highway 99 and landed on Mercer Street below after a two car accident, according to a Seattle fire spokesperson.

Two cars were traveling on Hwy 99 when one car hit a pole and the other car went through the barrier and landed on the roof, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

KIRO 7 reporter Deborah Horne said the driver was conscious when rescuers arrived. He was alone in the car.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken away in a medics unit. Officials report both drivers are in stable condition.

A gas spill was also been reported at the scene.
