South Tacoma Shooting Leaves Man Dead

POSTED: 4:15 pm PDT May 10, 2008

A shooting at a party in South Tacoma leaves one man dead early Saturday morning.

Neighbors heard shots around 2:30 a.m. in the 800 block of South 41st Street near South J Street in Tacoma and called police, said Mark Fulghum, a Tacoma police spokesman.

When police and medics arrived, police said friends of the man were carrying him out of the apartment to take him to the hospital.

Medics took the man to the St. Joseph Medical Center where he died, said Fulghum.

Police said the victim was a 32-year-old man. His name has not been released.

Fulghum told KIRO 7 that detectives got conflicting reports from the people at the scene. Police don’t know what led up to the shooting, or if the shots came from inside or outside the apartment.

No one has been arrested.
