Officer Involved In Shooting In Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- An officer fired shots at a suspected car prowler in Federal Way after the man drew a handgun at the officer, said police.Federal Way police said the officer saw what appeared to be a vehicle prowl in-progress in the area of South 324th Street and Pacific Highway South around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.As the officer attempted to arrest the white man in his 20s, the man fled on foot and a police chase began.During the chase, the man pointed a handgun at the officer, police said. The officer then fired at the man.The chase continued as neither the man nor the officer was shot. Police contained the area and began a search of the man, eventually locating him.Police said the man was taken into custody without further incident. The investigation is on-going.The officer has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation. The Federal Way Police Department said the officer has just more than two years with the force.
