KENT, Wash. -- Police say they are searching for the person who stabbed an Auburn teen.Police said a 16-year-old boy died from a stab wound received during a fight between two groups of young people near Kent around 1 a.m. Saturday.Relatives tell KIRO 7 16-year-old Jaspreet Atwal from Auburn died from the wound. Police said another 15-year-old boy also from Auburn was cut, but not seriously injured. A third boy, 14 years old from Kent, was not injured.Police said earlier in the evening the three boys were at a party near Southeast 227 Place and 133rd Avenue Northeast in Kent. The party broke up about midnight because of noise complaints from neighbors. The boys, along with three girls, went to a dead end in the 10900 block of Southeast 230th Street, next to the playground area of Park Orchard Elementary.According to police, an argument erupted between one of the youths and four other males. Police said the argument became physical, and one of the original three boys stepped in and tried to break up the fight, and he was stabbed in the abdomen.Police said the three got into a car and drove off. Police said he only made it to the end of the block before he hit a rock in the front yard of a residence.Wendy LeClair, who was at the home, dialed 911 and ran outside with the phone to the car. LeClair told KIRO 7 she found Atwal buckled into the driver’s seat. LeClair said Atwal was bleeding from a stab wound to the abdomen and that he apparently lost consciousness behind the wheel. “The operator asked me to check to see if he was OK, find the wound site and apply pressure, which I did but he was pretty much nonresponsive,” said Wendy LeClair.Medics arrived and transported the teen to Harborview where he died about three hours later.Eyewitnesses said one of the passengers that police describe as a 15-year-old had a superficial stab wound to his back.King County detectives continue to investigate and are looking for the person who stabbed the teen.
