SEATTLE -- Police are searching for the people who opened fire on a family in West Seattle Tuesday night, wounding a woman and her 10-year-old son.Witnesses told police they saw a burgundy sport utility vehicle feeling from the scene after shots went off in the 5600 block of Delridge Way Southwest at about 10:30 p.m."When the suspect or suspects left the area, they were seen getting into a car by some witnesses who were in a vehicle behind them," said Nick Metz of the Seattle Police Department. "These witnesses called 911 and were attempting to follow the car when they heard what they believe were additional gunshots."The woman, 28, was shot twice in the chest and once in the leg as she stood in the kitchen. The boy was hit in the shoulder, police said.Gunshots tore up the bottom part of a split-level duplex, and police found several shell casings outside the home, officials told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Nguyen. Both shooting victims have been taken to a hospital. The woman was in critical condition but she's expected to live. Her son is said to be OK, officials said.
