Man Identified As Suspect In Bellingham Fatal Stabbing

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Detectives have identified a suspect in the stabbing death of a 20-year-old man in Bellingham, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.David L. Datskiy of Mount Vernon was fatally stabbed in the abdomen on Sunday while standing on the side of James Street after pulling his Honda off of the road.A warrant for second-degree homicide was issued Wednesday for the arrest of Derek Cameron Collier.Police said Collier was driving a white Cadillac when he pulled over, approached Datskiy and stabbed the victim without provocation.Authorities said a woman with very short hair was a passenger in Collier's vehicle the day of the stabbing.Police are looking for Collier, who is described as a 23-year-old white man, clean shaven, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with a bald head and brown eyes.
Collier is believed to be driving a 1998 pearl white four-door Cadillac De Ville with Washington license 477XIS.Bellingham police ask that anyone who knows of Collier's whereabouts to contact Detective Hutchings at 360-778-8827, Detective Jones at 360-778-8823 or call 911 after 5 p.m.
