SEATTLE -- The city of Seattle is staffing six parks in the core Seattle area with rangers in a push to bring crimes down there.Last year at Victor Steinbreuk Park next to the Pike Place Market, there were 133 drug arrests, 115 calls to 911, two strong-arm robberies and one rape. The seven rangers will be patrolling Westlake Park, Occidental, the City Hall Plaza, Hing Hay Park in the International District, South Lake Union, and Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill. The rangers do not have the authority to write citations or make arrests but will be working with Seattle when problems arise.
