A Seattle University professor thought he was arranging to have paid sex with a 13-year-old girl when he set up a meeting with a Colorado police officer, according to a court document obtained by KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The officer, posing as a mother willing to sell her daughter for sex, met a man with the screen name "sugerdad4u33" in an online chat room last December, according to the document.

The officer said she later determined the man was Andrew Douglas Franz, 41, of Kent, whose profile said he "likes younger girls," according to the document.

The officer's account describes a series of e-mail and phone conversations in which Franz describes his desire for the girl in graphic, lurid terms. It is contained in a statement of probable cause filed by the District Attorney of Fremont County, Colorado, for 10 charges Franz faces.

The officer wrote that the two arranged for Franz to pay her to have sex with her "daughter." She said he promised presents for her and her daughter. They agreed to meet at a location in Fremont County on May 9.

Franz flew to Denver, rented a car and drove to a meeting place, where a Fremont County sheriff's detective spotted him and arrested him. Deputies found presents for the woman and her daughter and a form of Viagra pills, according to the court statement.

Franz was charged with criminal attempt to commit criminal solicitation, enticement of a child, unlawful sexual contact, sexual assault on a child, trafficking in children, soliciting for child prostitution, pandering of a child and inducement of child prostitution.

Franz is being held in the Fremont County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

He is an associate professor of military science at Seattle University known for his special forces background. He was married to a woman last month who neighbors described as being recently out of college.

During a 2006 run for the state legislature, Franz described himself as a proud father of two who was committed to fighting for resources for children's success.
