Two men are still missing on the Green River, said Sgt. John Urquhart of the King County Sheriff’s Office.Crews continued the search Sunday after both men went missing Saturday.A Seattle man, around 45 years old, was kayaking with three other downstream from Kanasket Palmer State Park Saturday. Around 12 p.m., the man was seen going under the water in his kayak, but he didn’t reappear, said Urquhart. The kayaker was in the gorge area of the Green River, with steep cliffs on both sides. The group was not able to leave the water to call 911 until they reached the Green River Gorge Bridge over an hour later, said Urquhart. The missing man was wearing black bib Gortex pants, a black and blue Gortex top, purple life jacket and a blue helmet. He was in a yellow and red Huka-brand kayak with skirt. The search for the kayaker was temporarily suspended Sunday afternoon. Crews said they have searched along the path of the kayaker, but they are waiting until they get a better idea of where to look. They recovered the kayaker’s paddle, but have not seen any signs of the kayak or the man, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.Around 4 p.m. a 34-year-old African American man from Federal Way was also reported missing. Police said he and three other men tied two small, inflatable rafts together and put them in the river near Flaming Geyser State Park. The raft went downstream and flipped putting all four into the water, said Urquhart. Three of the men were rescued, but the fourth has not been seen since.Sunday afternoon searchers found what they believe to be the two rafts tied together, but no signs of the missing man.The Cedar and Green rivers remain closed to all recreational until further notice because the rivers are too high, too fast, and too cold. The sheriff’s offices asks if anyone saw the four rafters in the river or the fourth man trying to get of the river, or the kayaker they are asked to call the King County Sheriff's Office 206-296-3311.
