SEATTLE -- A woman who was grabbed from behind while walking with a child on a Seattle street may be the latest victim of a man suspected in about two dozen groping assaults in south Seattle.A man came up from behind the woman and grabbed her at about 10 a.m. on Saturday in the 7500 block of Renton Avenue South, police said.Earl Johnson said he spotted the suspected groper immediately Saturday morning. Johnson said he watched the man walk about 50 yards to Renton Avenue South and then heard a woman scream. While another nearby resident went to help the victim, Johnson said he took his cell phone over to the suspect's Jeep Cherokee to get a picture of the license plate. The suspect came up behind Johnson, snatched his cell phone and then drove off, Johnson said.Witnesses called 911, and Johnson said he was able to remember the assailant's license plate number, which he passed on to police.Authorities said with the license plate information, they are now close to making an arrest in the case.Detectives want to find the latest victim to get more information, police said."We're asking if anyone knows this woman to please have her contact the Seattle Police Department," said Renee Witt, a department spokeswoman.Police are concerned the groper may become more violent. They are urging people to be more aware of personal safety when they leave home, take a bus and are out in public. The man wanted in attacks on 25 assaults in the area over the last year is described as a black man who is about 40 years old. He's 5 feet 10 inches tall with shaving bumps on the left side of his face.Witnesses said the man drove away in a 1994 green Jeep Cherokee.
