Car Plows Into Construction Site, Injuring 2

SEATTLE -- A road construction crew had to dive for cover when a car plowed into their work site Tuesday morning, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.The crash happened near Holman Road and Third Avenue Northwest in North Seattle when a compact car slammed into an excavator, crushing its hood and crumbling its dashboard.Witnesses said the car ran over a number of cones at the site before losing control. After the crash, the driver tried to flee the scene."He just ran down to the stop light until we caught him. He was completely oblivious to what happened," said Bill Johnson, who witnessed the crash.Witnesses said the driver appeared to be drunk.Police said that the driver will likely be booked for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.Both men in the car were transported to the hospital for their injuries but will be OK.
