DECEPTION PASS, Wash. -- The search for a diver missing off Deception Pass State Park is now a recovery effort rather than a rescue, officials said Tuesday.Shari Booth, 19, failed to resurface Monday during a dive with a group of students from Walla Walla University.Navy and Coast Guard helicopters and boats spent eight hours looking for her on Monday. Another search from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday failed to find any sign of Booth, the sheriff's office said.Booth is a freshman, studying marine biology. She disappeared near the University's Marine Research Center at Rosario Beach.Experts said the waters there are beautiful -- but dangerous."(It's) very cold, very murky, very jagged on the bottom here. It's not a typical beach. It goes off, and it drops off rather rapidly," said Mike Noyes of Fire District 11.Walla Walla University is affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist church and has about 1,900 students. The school's Web site asks for prayers for Booth and her family.
