Narrows Bridge Toll Rises Tuesday

TACOMA, Wash. -- The toll to cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge is increasing $1 starting Tuesday.The price at the tollbooths will change from $3 to $4. For those with "Good To Go" transponders, the price will change from $1.75 to $2.75.The increase is part of a long-term plan the state is using to pay back loans on the construction cost of the bridge. The increase will not be the last time the toll price goes up. As bond payments for the bridge rise, so will the cost to cross it. By 2015, the toll to cross the bridge will be $6. That price will likely remain at that rate until 2030.
