UPDATED: 5:27 am PDT July 4, 2008

In Seattle and Tacoma, police and fire departments ask citizens not to call 911 to report fireworks.

Both cities have special numbers for reporting fireworks.

In Seattle, the number to call is 206-625-5011.

In Tacoma, the number to call is 253-798-4722.

Police said that by calling 911 to report fireworks, the 911 centers become overloaded with non-emergency calls.
