Detectives: Teen Made Up Centralia Park Rape Story

Posted: 7:55 am PDT July 21, 2008Updated: 6:18 pm PDT July 23, 2008

A 17-year-old girl told police a stranger raped her in a Centralia park over the weekend and now detectives said the girl admitted that she made the story up.

The teen told police that the attack happened in Fort Borst Park in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue early Saturday afternoon.

Detectives said the girl was in trouble and she needed an excuse for where she had been, so she made up a story about being raped in the park.

Investigators spent the weekend going over surveillance video from surrounding businesses for clues.
