LACEY, Wash. -- Lacey police said a car slammed into the wall of an Applebee's restaurant, crashed into the dining room smashed into a booth near where a girl was sitting with her family.

Police said the driver of the SUV may have suffered a medical problem when the vehicle plowed into the restaurant on Sleater-Kinney Road, shattering glass and showering an 8-year-old girl who was sitting next to a window with debris.

The girl was bleeding, suffered cuts and bruises and was taken to a hospital. Her mother told KIRO that although the incident was terrifying, her daughter is expected to be OK.

Police said the driver is also being examined at a hospital.

The area where the accident occurred has been cordoned off but the restaurant is still open for business.
