Vandals Tag Phinney Ridge Neighborhood

Residents are cleaning up after vandals hit Seattle's Phinney Ridge neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Several residents called Seattle police before 10 a.m. to say they had graffiti on their property on North 48th Street between First Avenue Northwest and Greenwood Avenue North.

Vandals tagged vehicles, garage doors and fences.

"I feel offended. I just think it's stupid. It's a waste of energy and resources and people’s time to clean up somebody's mess," said resident Georgia Pierce.

Pierce said her husband was headed to Home Depot for some acetone to scrub the paint from his van, where all four sides were hit.

"If I knew where the kid was, he'd be out here with acetone and paint and he'd fix it," Pierce said.

Phinney Ridge residents have been victims of some vandalism before, but never this much graffiti.

"It's really strange. I mean this is a great neighborhood, and it's really close to town. It's not something you would expect around here," said resident Libby Klebeck.
