Friends Gather To Remember Domestic Violence Victim

Posted: 12:11 pm PDT August 28, 2008

Friends and coworkers of a woman murdered by her husband last month gathered on the eastside to remember her Wednesday night.

Police said Melissa Batten was gunned down by her husband in the parking lot of a Redmond apartment complex. He then committed suicide, authorities said.

Batten, who worked at Microsoft, had a restraining order against her husband and had also moved.

The service was held by the Eastside Domestic Violence program, which has safe houses and resources to help victims escape their abusers.
