Girlfriend Of Puyallup Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested

Posted: 3:31 pm PDT September 17, 2008

A tip led to the arrest of Christina Ripple Wednesday morning, said Lt. Dave McDonald of the Puyallup Police Department.

Ripple, 20, is believed to have helped her boyfriend Blair Jensen hide from police before he turned himself in, police said.

Jensen was charged with vehicular homicide and failure to remain at the scene of an accident in the death of John “Chip” McRae III. McRae, 51, was cycling down East Main Avenue in Puyallup Sept. 8 around 8 p.m. with a friend, when he was struck and killed by a silver Cadillac STS. Jensen owns the Cadillac that struck McRae, police said.

Police issued a bulletin looking for Jensen and Ripple shortly after the incident occurred. Jensen turned himself into police last Friday.

The tipster told police that Ripple was seen at an apartment complex in Puyallup. Police did not find her there, but spotted her in a car a few minutes later, McDonald said.

Police conducted a traffic stop and Ripple was arrested. She was not in her own car and she was not driving.

Ripple was arrested on a Pierce County Superior Court warrant for rendering criminal assistance in the first-degree. She will be held in the Pierce County Jail, McDonald said.
