SEATTLE -- Video of the crime scene where a British student was killed in her apartment, shared with American student Amanda Knox, shows where investigators messed up the investigation, said Seattle lawyer Anne Bremner."If this was in the United States, you would never have a charge on this evidence against Amanda Knox," Bremner said.Bremner is speaking on behalf of a group of local supporters of Knox, the University of Washington student accused in the stabbing death her British roommate Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy.
Statement From Knox's Supporters Raises Questions About CaseKnox has been in prison almost a year now and has not been not charged with anything. According to Italian law, suspects can be held for up to one year in prison without being charged.Bremner showed KIRO 7 crime scene video shot by Italian police within hours of the murder. A video Bremner describes as full of blunders."I would call it inadmissible what's on the tape. It is not acceptable, it is not appropriate and it shouldn’t be admissible," Bremner said.Video shows Kercher's half-clothed body found in her bedroom and the stab wound in her neck. Blood is everywhere including on the walls and in footprints on the floor. There is also what appears to be a bloody barefoot print on a bathmat where Knox has admitted taking a shower. Bremner calls that footprint meaningless in light of the DNA evidence that she said comes from another suspect, Rudy Guede, found in Kercher's room."Those bloody fingerprints on the wall, those are his and all the blood, the bloody fingerprints on door handle, on her purse, it’s all his," Bremner said. Guede, Knox and Knox's former boyfriend, Raffaele Solecito, are expected to be back in court this Saturday. Bremner said Knox's supporters now wish they had spoken up sooner.“I think people waited too long… the reality hits you that this case is still there. They're still prosecuting this case and this case is not fair there's no evidence against her,” Bremner said. Knox is being held in prison while an Italian judge decides whether she should stand trial.
