Seattle Teacher Accused Of Assaulting Fourth-Grade Student

SEATTLE -- A fourth-grade teacher is on paid administrative leave after he was accused of pushing a student's head onto a desk.According to a police incident report obtained by KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, the principal of Emerson Elementary School told officers that the incident happened after a teacher yelled at a student for being late Sept. 29.The teacher told the student to put her head down. According to the report, when the student didn't comply fast enough, the teacher pushed the girl's head onto the desk "hard enough for her head to bounce off the desk."The girl went home with a headache that was gone the next day.The principal told police that the teacher has a history of anger problems. Staff members at the school told police they had received complaints from children about his anger," the report said.KIRO 7 contacted the teachers' union, which declined to comment at this point. Also efforts to contact the teacher have gone unanswered.Beyond releasing the report, Seattle police would not comment further on an active investigation.
