1 Killed In Crash Of Truck, 4 Cars

BELFAIR, Wash. -- One person was killed in a crash involving a semitrailer, two SUVs and two pickup trucks that spread debris over a wide area of Highway 3 in Kitsap County Thursday morning, the Washington State Patrol said.An SUV was under the semitrailer, and a passenger in that SUV was trapped until freed by firefighters. The person was conscious and communicating with rescuers, said Trooper Krista Hedstrom.
SLIDESHOW: Crushed Vehicles, Debris Litter HighwayHedstrom said there was no immediate information about other injuries from the crash.Chopper 7 video showed the crashed semitrailer and four other vehicles along a stretch of the highway at Barney White Road, near Gorst.Car parts, drywall -- apparently carried by the truck -- and other wreckage was strewn along the highway.The highway is closed as rescue personnel as the State Patrol investigates and crews clear debris from the scene.Video showed one crushed vehicle off the road and a pickup on its side.Troopers and detectives are continuing their investigation about how the crash happened, Hedstrom said.
