Posted: 9:33 pm PDT October 25, 2008

The Seattle Police Department reported on Saturday that officers arrested a man who staged a bicycle accident in order to attack a Good Samaritan.

Police said that the man faked the accident and lay down next to his bicycle on the University Bridge. When a woman in a passing car stopped to help him, the man "immediately and brutally" attacked her said police.

The attacker punched, kicked and threatened to kill the woman.

Police arrived quickly and arrested the man and called on Seattle Fire Department aid crews to help the woman. She was treated at a hospital and the suspect was taken to the King County Jail.

Police said the incident happened at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday.
