Police: Murder Suspect's Car Found In Algona

Posted: 9:26 am PST December 2, 2008Updated: 4:58 pm PST December 2, 2008

Police have found a car driven by the man wanted in connection with a homicide in south Seattle over the weekend, but are still looking for the suspect.

Police recovered the silver BMW driven by Jose Angel Blanco, 39, in Algona early Tuesday morning. Homicide detectives believe Blanco is now driving a silver 2004 Suzuki Verona with a Washington license of 479VWQ, police said.

Algona police said the Verona was not stolen and they’re not sure how Blanco got the keys.

Police said it's a possibility that Blanco is headed south because he contacted California relatives by phone and he also attempted to contact relatives in Mexico.

Police asked anyone with information about Blanco or the car to call 911.

The call for the public's help came after the family of the victim, Noemi Lopez, told reporters that her ex-husband is a suspect in her slaying. They said he is very dangerous and had been threatening Lopez before she was killed on Sunday afternoon.

Blanco is also known as Jose A. Blanco-Naranjo.

Police said there is a murder warrant on Blanco and that anyone with information about him is urged to call Seattle police or 911 immediately.

Seattle crime scene investigators returned to the home Tuesday where Lopez was killed to collect evidence.

Lopez suffered 60 stab wounds, according to charges filed by the King County prosecutor. Blanco called his cousin in Fresno and confessed to the slaying, according to the documents.

The victim's daughter received a voice message from Blanco while she was at church, warning the girl to keep her brother and sister away from their house in South Seattle, police said.

Shortly after, the children found their mother dead inside their home in the 7600 block of 46th Avenue South.

Lopez worked two jobs, one as a medical assistant at Swedish Medical Center.

Lopez's family told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that her ex-husband had been threatening her and said that the man was contemplating suicide and said he planned to take three people along with him.
