Woman Rescued From Morton Home After Landslide

Posted: 12:45 pm PST January 7, 2009Updated: 3:02 pm PST January 7, 2009

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office rescued a woman trapped in her house north of the Morton area.

KIRO 7 reporter Richard Thompson said a husband and wife were inside their home Wednesday morning when a landslide barreled down into their home.

The husband was able to get out, but his wife was trapped inside, sheriffs said.

Crews worked to safely get her out before more of the hillside gave way.

Officials are urging residents who live on Minors Road, the same area where this landslide occurred, to leave the area due to the high risk of landslides.

Highway 12 near Mossy Rock is completely shut down in both directions.
