Stimulus Money Coming To Western Wash.

SEATTLE -- Nearly $78 million controlled by the Puget Sound Regional Council is slated to help businesses, parks and construction in Western Washington.Where $78M Is Going To Be Spent In Wash.Projects that will see some of that money include: $11 million for the Northeast 36 Street Bridge near Microsoft in Redmond, $3.8 million to improve Viking Avenue in Poulsbo and $2 million to extend Shaw Road in Puyallup.More than $1 million will go to help business in the White Center neighborhood of King County.In the city of Normandy Park, nearly $4 million will go to transform First Avenue South between Southwest 192nd and 200th Street.”Now we have a city here and it's a commercial center so we need a place for people to work, people come for retail activities and also to walk,” said John Admason, Community Development Director.Normandy Park officials said there will be 100 construction jobs in the short term, paving the way for the shopping mall adding 2,300 jobs in the long term as the improvements attract more stores and shoppers.
