Ocean Shores Has First Bank Robbery In 15 Years

Ocean Shores police responded to the first bank robbery the town has had in 15 years, said Deputy Chief Russ Fitz.

A woman entered the Timberland Savings Bank at about 1:30 p.m. Friday on Damon Road in Ocean Shores.

She entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money and implying that she had a gun, Fitz said.

She took the money and fled the bank of foot.

About 30 minutes later, police received a 911 call from a woman who told them she had just robbed a bank, but she didn’t give her location, Fitz said.

Police check cell phone records and tracked her call to a phone near the bank. Police arrived at the scene, found the woman and recovered the cash, Fitz said.

She was arrested and did not have a weapon on her.

Fitz said no one robs banks in Ocean Shores because it’s so hard to get away on the one road into town.
