VA Hospitals In Washington Getting $23M In Stimulus

Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals in Washington state are receiving about $23 million in federal stimulus money.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, who pushed for the money on the Veterans Affairs and Appropriations committees, said the money will be used on renovation and repairs, simultaneously taking care of veterans and creating jobs.

Nationally, VA facilities are getting $1.2 billion.

Those receiving money in Washington:
  • Seattle, $10.2 million
  • Spokane, $6.3 million
  • Walla Walla, $3.2 million
  • American Lake, $2.7 million
  • Vancouver: $625,000
  • Tahoma National Cemetery, $135,000
