Boy Nearly Drowns In Creek Near Mossyrock

A 2-year-old boy was critically injured after falling into a creek at the family's home near Mossyrock.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office told KIRO the 2-year-old and his 5-year-old brother were playing outside at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday while their mother made dinner and their father was working in his shop.

When it started to rain, police said, the 5-year-old came inside. His mother asked where his brother was, and the boy told her that the younger boy was still outside.

The woman told police she ran out and found the 2-year-old face-down in the creek. She started CPR and called 911.

The boy was taken to Morton General Hospital and then transported to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma where he remains in critical condition.

The boy's mother told police she believes the boy was in the creek for about two minutes.

The Sheriff's Office has not released names but said the victim's mother is 26 years old and his father is 29 years old.

Investigators are treating the case as an accident.
