KC Exec Ron Sims Confirmed To Obama Cabinet

Washington, D.C. -- King County Executive Ron Sims is now Deputy Secretary Sims.Late Wednesday night, the United States Senate confirmed Ron Sims' nomation to Deputy Secretary of Department of Housing and Urban Development.Some political blogs are saying that Sims is expected to resign his King County post as early as Thursday.Several candidates are in line to take over as interim county executive. The list includes Sims' chief of staff, former Seattle mayor Charles Royer and former county councilmembers Louise Miller and Steve Hammond.The interim executive would fill in until a new county executive can be elected in November.
