Posted: 8:43 am PDT May 15, 2009Updated: 4:41 pm PDT May 15, 2009

The downtown Seattle Metro bus tunnel was closed much of the day Friday after an automatic fire alarm went off Friday morning, officials told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Tunnel traffic was rerouted to surface streets and the entrances were closed, but no fire or smoke was found, said Linda Thielke of Metro Transit.

Metro checked all the systems in the tunnel to see what triggered the alarm and reopened the tunnel at 3 p.m.
