Body Found Along Highway 2

Police suspect a hit-and-run driver killed woman whose body was found along an Everett freeway off-ramp, and a dive team will search the waters below the freeway for another possible body, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The discovery of the body of a Caucasian woman in her mid-20s to early 30s closed the off-ramp from eastbound U.S. 2 to Homeacres Road.

The Washington State Patrol said a truck driver saw the body lying in the roadway on the eastbound off-ramp to Ebey Island. Chopper 7 video showed what appeared to be a covered body in the gore point behind Jersey barriers.

Police believe the woman was walking along the freeway when she was hit. They said there are vehicle parts strewn along the freeway and skid marks on the road that might have been from the car that hit her. Investigators also found jewelry, including a wedding ring.

Trooper Mark Francis said the body had open wounds.

"It appears she is a victim of a hit-and-run. Her wounds are consistent with that," Francis said.

It wasn't immediately clear why police thought there might be a second body. Divers from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department are searching the Ebey Slough to make sure there is not another victim.
