3 Rescued From Boat In Everett Harbor

A Good Samaritan rescued three people from a boat that eventually capsized in Everett Harbor Friday morning, the Coast Guard said.

The owner of the boat said he had just purchased the vessel a few weeks ago and was heading out to go fishing with his wife and a friend when the vessel started taking on water.

The Coast Guard said a boater in the area heard an emergency call and came to the boat's aid near the mouth of the Snohomish River.

By the time the three climbed aboard the Good Samaritan's vessel, there was a few feet of water in the bottom of the boat, the owner said.

The Coast Guard, Everett police and fire department personnel responded and the 27-foot pleasure craft, which eventually capsized, was towed to a dock by Vessel Assist.

A salvage worker at the boat's location said he believed something was wrong with the boat's live well line -- a hole in the bottom of the boat that sucks water aboard to keep fishing bait fresh.

Salvage workers are trying to upright the boat.

Staff from the Environment Protection Agency will check for any gas or oil that may have leaked into the water.

None of the three aboard the disabled vessel were hurt.
