Car Erupts In Fire On Southbound I-5 In Federal Way

A car erupted in fire, blocking the carpool lane and the adjacent left lane of southbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way Monday morning.

Video from a Department of Transportation camera at South 296th Street showed the car in flames as the firefighters arrived at about 9:05 a.m.

The fire was put out quickly, leaving the vehicle a smoking hulk.

Traffic was slowed as drivers passed by the lanes that were blocked by fire, DOT and state patrol vehicles.

It is not known if anyone was injured.
